Happy Moments

Not only is this stamp set called Happy Moments, but it was a HAPPY MOMENT when I received this order the other day.  It contained FREE STAMPS!  What could be better?  The set used for the greeting is called Vintage Labels and it, too is a FREE set.  This was two of the stamp sets that I earned for FREE during the Sale A Bration Promotion, that runs until March 31st.  Spend just $100 on any products and receive you choice of one of four exclusive stamp sets.  This shows two of them!

I designed this card to do at a workshop last Friday.  I challenged myself to use the Bella Bleu papers, which I have barely touched since I got them months ago.  I admit, it’s not my favourite design, but I think the birdcage image matches with the elegance of these papers.  It’s a simple card to make, just basic stamping, but the overall effect came out to be quite nice (I think at least)

Project Recipe:

Papers: Not Quite Navy, Kraft, Very Vanilla, Bella Bleu DSP

Stamps: Vintage Labels, Happy Moments

Ink: Not Quite Navy

Accessories: Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, Wide Oval Punch, Corner Rounder Punch

Altered Hodgepodge Hardware

This month’s Demonstrator Newsletter, Impressions, gave us a new project to try.  It showed us how to make altered items such as tags, charms and key chains using our Hodgepodge Hardware.  My daughter is into having things hanging off her bag, so I made the Tempting Turquoise one for her.  The Raspberry Tart one is hanging off my workshop trolley, and the keychain, well it’s got my keys on it!  They are quite simple to make, though time consuming, as you really need to let the Crystal Effects dry overnight, on each side, to be hard enough to tolerate being bashed around with keys and such.  I also found that the stamped letters bled a bit under the crystal effects, but the DSP samples came through crystal clear.

To make these, I simply cut one of the tabs off the Hodgepodge Hardware using our Craft and Rubber Scissors (yes, they cut through metal too!), places the stamped or punched sample in between two identical pieces and adhered them together with Crystal Effects.  When that was dry, I applied a generous layer over top and left to dry overnight, then flipped it over, and filled the other side with Crystal Effects as well, and let dry for about 12 hours.  Once it was all dry, I threaded a matching ribbon through the hole and secured with a brad.  They look so much better in real life, but I think they still look pretty good in the photos.  Try one today!

Animal Stories

When I was playing around with my Animal Stories Stamp set, I couldn’t stop with just one design…so I made another one.  Once again, using the Tall Tales DSP for inspiration, I came up with another option for a little girl:

Project Recipe:

Papers: Brilliant Blue, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip

Stamps: Animal Stories, On Your Birthday

Ink: Rose Red, Chocolate Chip

Accessories: Circle Scissor Plus, So Saffron Ribbon (from September Promotion), 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, dimensionals

Versatility

Have you ever noticed how versatile our products are?  I’m sure you have, or you wouldn’t keep coming back.  I had a request last week to do a little boy’s birthday card at a workshop.  I designed a simple little boy card using the Animal stories stamp set.  Then I thought “what if the person making the card doesn’t have a little boy to give it to?  I thought make a girl option as well.”  Lo and behold, I turned over the two pieces of DSP that I was using and the girly-flower print was on the reverse!  How simple is that!  I cut up the kits for the workshop, placing the same pieces in each kit, with the exception of the second mat for the elephant, I put BOTH Brilliant Blue AND Old Olive in to give people the choice.  I took the ribbons on the roll so people could choose the colour they wanted to complete either the boy card or the girl card.  I packed two colours of ink rather than one and it was that simple!  Here are the cards together:

The boy option:

Turn the two pieces of DSP over and you get a girl option:

Project Recipe:

Papers: So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Brilliant Blue, Whisper White, Tall Tales DSP

Stamps: Animal Stories, On Your Birthday

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Brilliant Blue, Rose Red

Accessories: Double Stitched Ribbon in Rose Red or Chocolate Chip

Two Step Stamping

If you subscribe to my newsletter, you saw the creation of this card in my Customer Tutorial this month.  If you do not subscribe to my newsletter, you can by clicking “newsletter” above.  In my tutorial, I gave step-by-step instructions on how to use the Stampamajig for Two Step Stamping.  It’s an essential tool for me in my stamping area, pull it out almost every time I ink up.  It’s perfect for lining up your images in a Two-step set, making your greetings straight, testing to see if a particular stamp will fit in a small space or aligning alphabet stamps.  This set also uses Whimsical Words, one of the Sale A Bration sets available with $100 purchase.  Click the brochure in the sidebar for more details.

Project Recipe:

Papers: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss,  Bella Rose DSP

Stamps: A Rose is a Rose, Whimsical Words

Ink: Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip

Accessories: Corner Rounder Punch, Circle Scissor Plus, Chocolate Chip double stitched ribbon, paper snips, dimensionals

Build A Roo

I haven’t used this set in awhile, so when I was creating my Customer Tutorial this month, using the Stamp A Ma Jig, I thought I’d pull this one out to make a sample as well.  I wanted a girly card in non-girly colours.  I turned to the Pink Flamingo Papers for inspiration and came up with this:

Project Recipe:

Papers: Tempting Turquoise, Summer Sun, Watercolour Paper, Whisper White, Real Red

Stamps: Wow Flowers (greeting), Build A Roo

Ink: Creamy Caramel, Cameo Coral, Real Red, Kiwi Kiss, Staz On, Pink Pirouette

Accessories: Word Window Punch, Small Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, Aquapainter, Dimensionals
